2019- Retracing Bartok

I was happy  and honoured to be part of  Retracing Bartok project, produced by Jazz Updates Association. A multidisciplinary project, curated by Romanian- American pianist Lucian Ban and American violist Mat Maneri, Retracing Bartok started in 2018, with a series of jazz concerts and recordings of Bela Bartok music, reimagined in a jazz version of Lucian Ban, Mat Maneri and John Surmon. My piano recital included works composed by Bela Bartok as 6 Romanian Folk Dances, Sonatina, 2 Romanian Dances, 20  Romanian Christmas Carols and 2 miniatures from Mikrokosmos.

This concert was a very special one for me, considering that I was pregnant with my daughter. One week later after performing,  I was listening 6 Romanian Dances in a violin version performed live by Alexandru Tomescu and Simina gave me her first kick, during the first dance.
